For you regular readers- sorry for the inconsistent posting! I’ve been slacking in the blog department due to my lack of slacking in the academic department…Ugh.

Anyways, here’s some news to keep you updated:

1. A Salmonella outbreak has sickened nearly 200 people in 19 states. It appears to be over already, but it got alot of hype due to the recent E. Coli outbreak. (most recent article on CNN.com)

2. A big article in Monday’s NYT professed the life-extending effects of reduced-calorie diets in monkeys, and suggested that they will be the next big thing in health research. Sounds like a quest for the Fountain of Youth to me….
“One for the Ages: A Prescription That May Extend Life”

3. Red wine may also have life-extending effects, according to tests on mice at the Harvard Med School and the National Institute on Aging. (article, NYT)

And on a more local level, today was the second-to-last Farmer’s Market @ Brown…sad!
